Despite the pandemic, Aldi's growth plans are still on track. The discount grocer recently announced that it would hire 4,000 for new jobs in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Aldi's larger goal is to have opened 1,200 new stores by the year 2025.
Back in July, the discount grocer said it had passed the 2,000 store mark in the United States. That puts Aldi on track to become the third largest grocer in the US, trailing Walmart and Kroger. Aldi is currently the UK's fifth largest grocer.
In July, the company announced it would open 70 new stores in the US in the following five months, including entering two new states, Arizona and Louisiana.
