Amazon Debuts Its First Electric Delivery Van

Amazon invested in Rivian in 2019, and the results of the collaboration are now here. Amazon showed off its first electric delivery van on Thursday. The van was built by Rivian, and Amazon wants to put 10,000 of them on the road as early as 2022. By the year 2030, the online retailer plans to have a fleet of 100,000 electric delivery vans.

Amazon said it wants its drivers to love driving the vans, and the interior features were designed with these workers in mind. The state-of-the-art design includes sensing equipment, a driver-assist system, and even what the retailer called a "dancefloor" to make movement within the van easy for drivers. 

“We combined Rivian’s technology with our delivery logistics knowledge, and the result is what you see here — the future of last mile delivery.”
