As employees, unions, and advocate groups urge major companies to disclose their COVID-19 cases, Amazon has revealed the number of coronavirus cases among its workers. The retailer said that 20,000 employees have tested positive or were presumed positive for the virus. It also said that the infection rate among its employees is far below the infection rate among the general U.S. population. If the rate among Amazon and Whole Foods employees had matched that of the general population, it said, then the number of cases would have totaled nearly 34,000.
The Seattle-based company also said it is conducting thousands of tests a day, which will grow to 50,000 tests a day across 650 sites by November.
