Amazon already delivers furniture and appliances. Amazon Home Services will also send a contractor to houses in some cities to install customers' purchases. But Home Depot, Best Buy, and, most crucially, Wayfair (Amazon's bigger online home goods retail rival) all provide a combination of these services, in which employees both deliver and install purchases. According to a recent report, Amazon intends to join their ranks with the launch of a new service, though limited to Virginia and two other markets for the time being. In these markets, Amazon drivers will receive training on installing and assembling appliances and furniture at the time of delivery to make customers' experience more seamless. According to the report from Bloomberg, not all of Amazon's drivers are thrilled about the prospect of these added responsibilities.
They fear Amazon will impose even more unrealistic expectations on them and provide them with insufficient training.
