Just in time for the holidays, Bed Bath & Beyond has partnered with Target-owned Shipt and Instacart to offer same-day delivery. The new service will be available in 48 states, but only in certain eligible ZIP codes. Customers will pay $4.99 for same-day delivery of orders over $39.
It's the latest of several big changes undertaken by the retailer since Mark Tritton, formerly chief merchandising officer at Target, came on board as CEO. Analysts are taking note of the initiatives, which include buy online, pick up in store and curbside pickup services. They know as well as the leadership at Bed Bath & Beyond that digital options are going to be more important than ever as the holiday shopping season begins in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The important thing is ... to make sure we get this in place before the holidays,” said Bed Bath & Beyond Chief Digital Officer Rafeh Masood. “It’s another way for customers to shop us when safety is top of mind.”
