Brands, Shipping Companies Brace for a "Nightmare" Holiday Season

As the coronavirus pandemic pushes retail spending online, brands and shipping companies are scrambling to cope with the deluge of orders and deliveries. UPS is hiring 100,000 temporary workers, and FedEx predicts that it will be delivering 7 million packages a day during the holiday season. Meanwhile, retailers and brands are urging customers to make their holiday purchases early to ease the pressure. 

In less than a month, Black Friday and the following Cyber Week will be here, for real. Brands, retailers and carriers alike are looking toward those days with a mix of dread and cautious optimism.
