Costco Experiments with Curbside Pickup

In exactly three clubs in a single market, Costco is launching a curbside pickup option. Costco's three New Mexico clubs will offer the service, but it won't be free. The pickup fee for curbside is $10, and that's on top of a minimum order requirement of $100. Costco confirmed the report to USA TODAY, stressing the limited scope of the curbside pickup test. Still, it's an acknowledgement on the warehouse club retailer's part of the huge popularity of and demand for such services, especially in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. 

On its website, Costco said store employees prepare the orders and deliver to members' vehicles and that curbside pickup "adds an additional expense to our low-cost business model and limited markup structure."
