Dick's Sporting Goods to Debut a New Store Concept

Dick's Sporting Goods' latest store concept is all about experiences. The House of Sport store includes a rock-climbing wall and a putting green, among many other attractions. Unlike Dick's two former clearance-based store concepts, the House of Sport store won't be dedicated to selling products at a discount. Instead, the focus seems to be on engagement with a community of sports and outdoors enthusiasts.

The House of Sport concept is just the beginning. According to CEO Lauren Hobart, the store will serve as a testing ground for the attractions it offers. The ones that resonate most with customers will find a place in Dick's Sporting Goods stores themselves. 

The experiential store elements include a 17,000-square-foot turf field and track, a 32-foot rock-climbing wall, golf pro shops that include simulator-equipped golf hitting bays, a putting green, a batting cage, wellness services like yoga, and equipment services...
