By Sheridan Fifer
Home improvement retailer Lowe's is giving a total of $55 million to small businesses that have taken a hit from the coronavirus pandemic. The money will be distributed by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation in grants of anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. The goal is to keep small businesses afloat with a timely infusion of cash so they can pay rent, wages, and operational expenses.
Of Lowe's $55 million contribution, $30 million focuses on small businesses owned or led by minorities and women and $25 million is to support enterprises in rural communities, the release said.
