Lululemon to Pilot a Resale Program

In a move toward a more sustainable business model, Lululemon is piloting a resale program it calls "Like New." The retailer is partnering with Trove, a company that has already helped big-name brands like Levi's and Patagonia build resale marketplaces. Through the program, customers can exchange their gently used Lululemon items for a Lululemon gift card. All the items will be cleaned, and those that can't be sold for quality reasons will be recycled. The online resale marketplace will feature these gently used items at lower prices.

"Like New" will launch in May for customers in Texas and California. Whether more markets ever see the resale program depends on the feedback Lululemon receives from customers in these states. 

“Lululemon is actively working to help create a healthier future,” CEO Calvin McDonald said in a statement.
