Major Retailers Incentivize Last-Minute Shopping
By Sheridan Fifer
With Christmas upon us and the ground shipping deadline for major delivery companies long since passed, retailers are making their final plays for last-minute shoppers by going out of their way to help customers receive their orders in time for the holiday. Walmart is offering paid two-hour delivery for orders placed as late as 1 PM on Christmas Eve. Target is offering in-store or curbside pickup of orders placed as late as 5 PM on Christmas Eve. And Amazon is making certain orders available for one-day delivery until December 23, though only for Prime members. In some places, customers can get their Amazon orders over $35 delivered that same day until Christmas Eve.
Retail delivery efforts add to the growing list of incentives that retailers have implemented to get consumers to shop during the holiday season.
