Amazon has been secretive about its home robot project, now in the late stages of prototyping. According to The Verge, it's a kind of "Amazon Echo on wheels" code-named Vesta. From what is known, it has been four years in the making and will be one of Amazon's biggest product launches ever, on a level with the Kindle, Echo – and the Fire Phone. It's that last precedent that has even people close to the project concerned, according to Insider.
The Fire Phone was Amazon's foray into the smartphone market, which, despite all the money and brains behind it, flopped.
“People are very skeptical — we’re worried it could turn into another Fire Phone,” one of six anonymous sources cited by Insider as “directly involved in the project” told the publication.
