Target Plans to Hire 130,000 Seasonal Workers

Target saw demand for same-day fulfillment quadruple in the first six months of the year. It also saw 10 million new customers flock to its website as the coronavirus pandemic sent more shoppers online than ever. The retailer responded by training more employees in areas such as order pickup and drive up services. But with the holiday season looming, Target has announced that it will hire 130,000 seasonal workers, roughly the same number as last year, but with one big difference: this year, those workers will be hired specifically for contactless services and distribution centers. 

“We’re building even more flexibility into our seasonal staffing as we enter into, what is sure to be, an unprecedented holiday shopping season,” Chief Executive Officer Brian Cornell told reporters on a briefing call...
