Walmart seems determined to leave no stone unturned in its search for efficient last-mile delivery options. From drones to self-driving cars, the retailer is using partnerships and pilot programs to stay at the forefront of emerging delivery technologies. And now, the retailer has made an acquisition. JoyRun is a last-mile delivery startup with more than 30,000 "runners" who pick up and deliver items for family, friends, and neighbors.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in early 2021. The deal includes all the JoyRun assets, which will be incorporated into Walmart’s last-mile logistics.
