Walmart Retires Robotic Pick-Up Towers

Walmart customers have spoken: they want to pick up their orders curbside, not inside stores from massive robotic towers. And Walmart is listening, removing 300 of those towers and "hibernating" 1,300 more.

These pick-up towers are 17 feet tall and usually placed at the front of stores. During the pandemic, shoppers flocked to Walmart's curbside pick-up and delivery services. The automated pick-up towers, however, have failed to win them over. 

Walmart is considering how it could use the pickup towers differently in the future, according to the report.
