Walmart to Shift Majority of Hourly U.S. Workforce to Full-Time

After hiring half a million new associates to cope with a deluge in demand, both in store and online, Walmart is now focused on keeping them after the crisis is past. Walmart wants to employ an hourly U.S. workforce that is mostly full-time, all with schedules that are consistent from week to week (one common complaint of associates is that schedules are unpredictable). By January of 2022, the retailer expects that two-thirds of its U.S. hourly workforce will be full-time. 

“Having full-time associates has never been more important than it is right now,” Drew Holler, senior vice president of U.S. people operations, said in the blog post.
