Walmart has announced a partnership with Quest Diagnostics and drone company DroneUp that will deliver COVID-19 kits to customers' homes by drone. The kits include nasal swabs that can be self-administered and shipped back to Quest Diagnostics.
The test is limited in its scale, but it marks the third drone program that Walmart has announced in recent weeks. The first program will deliver groceries and household items by drone to customers in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The second will deliver heath and wellness products in Northwest Arkansas. This third pilot will take place in north Las Vegas and Cheektowaga, New York.
The drones launched on Tuesday will drop the COVID-19 self-collection kits on driveways, front sidewalks or backyards of homes within a one-mile radius of designated Walmart stores.
